These images are scanned from photo prints, covering approximately the years 1978 to just before the birth of Fred. At that time I worked full time in Bay Area machine shops; see the separate album here. In my spare time I was an avid bicyclist. I bicycled everywhere locally. I completed several centuries (100-mile rides). I finished the Davis Double twice, placing 29th out of 700 entrants in 1979. I finished the Terrible Two once, a course over the worst roads and steepest hills in Marin County. In 1979 I finished the Highland Triple Century, a ride of 300 miles in 24 hours organized by the Los Angeles Wheelmen. I also ran both the San Francisco and the Oakland Marathons.
In the late 70s I rode my bike solo from Oakland to the Grand Canyon and back
